During the intensive research of vocal activity and the song variability of Red-breasted Flycatcher in the last four years, we managed to get some interesting results, including describing a total of 16 different types of songs (but the trend shows that males will use even more types). One type of song is strongly dominant in our entire population, another seven types are common, and other types of song are very rare. Our up-to-date results indicate that about 90% of males use only one type of song during the season (probably throughout their lives). The remaining 10% of males combine two different types of song. The amount of one song type used in combination is depending on the stage of the breeding season. Individual types of described songs are used by males across Europe, but we do not seem strictly separate dialect groups so far. We are interested in the geographic distribution of described song types.
We would like to know how many song types are used in Europe, how they are distributed. It is, therefore, necessary to collect as many recordings of the different males as possible from its entire breeding area. However, this plan cannot be accomplished without the involvement of many other ornithologists from across Europe, so we are also turning to you with a request for cooperation.
Prosím sdílejte informace o projektu dalším ornitologům.
